Hello all,
My name is Spencer I am a first year and I currently study Humanities at the Universidad de Navarra. Best decision I ever made. Before I get started in explaining my passion for humanities why don't I explain my background.
I was born and raised in The United States of America in town called Arlington , 15 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Washington, DC. Some see the city as the Rome of the 21st century others see it as swamp filled with corruption, I see it as my home. Living in a high intense environment has made me into productive and proactive person. I need to always being doing something or have something planned. Being the youngest of five kids, I find myself wanting to be independent in almost everything I do.
Why do I study Humanities? What can you do with Humanities? Many people ask me this question followed up with, “you are not going to get a job”. I study Humanities for a variety of reasons, but the main reason is because I really enjoy it. Learning how to read and write will you take you to way more places than learning just how to plug in numbers and formulas. Humanities today is more demanded than ever due to the high tech world we live in today. Humans are naturally social creatures and the the evolution of technology the need for social thinkers is needed.
J.R.R Tolkien is one of my favorite writers. I appreciate his creative stories that at first glance may seem just kids books but in reality they have a much deeper underlying meaning. Unique quality of Tolkien's books is its range of readers. I also went to a school called Rivendell where we studied The Hobbit for a month.
